JUST DISGUSTING
I'm so mad, I could spit.

I was reading another story in the local paper today about Celeste Zappala's son dying in Iraq. Celeste is a familiar face around town; she works for the city and is active in the same Mount Airy neighborhood where my friend Cos lives.

This jumped out:
In one of Sher's recent e-mails, Celeste said, he asked for food and water. It appalled his family that soldiers were being sent into combat without the provisions to sustain them.

But on Saturday, his brother Raphael, 25, sent a huge package filled with tuna fish, peanut butter, coffee.
As you may recall, I just wrote about this Sunday. My friend's nephew doesn't have food or water, either.

What the fuck is going on over there? What on earth are we paying all those contractors for? And what does it take to get these politicians off their asses?

If you don't know your representative or senator, check here. Then call. These are toll-free numbers.

It's bad enough we put these people in harm's way for no apparent reason. The least we can do is feed them.

UPDATE: I spoke to someone from Military Families Speak Out, and she told me they'd gotten similiar reports. Someone's going to send me some more information, and when I get it, I'll post it.
