Maybe I'm wrong. But I take heart from the idea that any time the extremists came out in the open with their agenda, they've been soundly rejected by the American people. If the Boy King was honest the first time out about what he wanted to do, instead of wrapping himself in the "compassionate conservative" stealth strategy, he wouldn't have gotten anywhere near the White House.

Karl knows it, too. Hence, the efforts to obfuscate and position every damned move they make. It's all about the marketing.
