Ed Schrock, that wingnut Virginia Beach congressman who was outed by BlogActive because of his opposition to gay marriage, has suddenly announced his retirement.

RICHMOND, Va. -- Republican U.S. Rep. Edward L. Schrock abruptly announced today that he will not seek a third term, citing unspecified allegations that have "called into question" his ability to serve.

Mr. Schrock said in a five-paragraph statement that he has "come to the realization that these allegations will not allow my campaign to focus on the real issues facing our nation."

The release said he would not comment further on his decision, nor did he comment specifically on the allegations.

BlogActive also went after Ed Koch this week, asking the question: Why would an 80-year-old gay man support the most homophobic bunch around?

Anyway, the Democrat running against Schrock is David Ashe, a former Marine Corps lawyer who recently returned from Iraq. Go show him some love.
